From administration to action, a governing body is set up for the purpose of administering something, and to become a member of that establishment. Governing Bodies can act directly or indirectly through themselves or parent bodies, with the aim of contributing to their respective mandates and policies.
These mandates and policies are generally successful if the medium/long term plans are set forth in a programme of work with a specified budget.
One of the most recognised governing bodies is that of the Olympic governing body, which is a sports organization that both regulates and sanctions sport, and sport within the Olympics held every 4 years. A primary function of the Olympic governing body includes disciplinary action for rule breaches, and also deciding on rule changes.
